The extra credit assignment is simply: "Teach me something I don't know that I can use in the class next semester." The final submission can be in the form of a compelling essay from first principles, a report on an unknown theory or technology with applications to trading, or the implementation of a new idea for trading.

The assignment is intended to be very challenging. Submissions will be graded on a 100 point scale.

Phase 1

Submit a proposal describing the idea you would like to pursue. The proposal can be no longer than 250 words. We will review your proposal and either approve it or decline it. These decisions are final. For approval, the proposal must meet the following criteria:

  • Is it something I don't know?
  • Is it interesting?
  • Is it applicable to the course?

We expect that very few proposals will be accepted.

Submit your 250 word proposal text directly into t-square.

Phase 2

If your proposal is accepted, begin your work. Your final report should be submitted as a PDF document of 3,000 words or less.

Rubric

  • Newness: How new/unique is the idea? (up to 33 points)
  • Interestingness: How interesting is the idea? (up to 34 points)
  • Applicability: How likely is it to be useful for the class (up to 33 points)
